POSITION SUMMARY: Water/Sewer tech
Operates and maintains the Holiday Shores Sanitary District water/sewer treatment & distribution system in accordance with accepted standards, the policies of Holiday Shores Sanitary District, applicable laws, and State or Federal regulations by performing the duties listed herein.
Hourly Rate Starts at: $25.00. After the 90-day probationary period $27.00 per/hr.
Pay rate negotiable with a water and/or sewer license and/or experience.
Yearly performance review.
On-call rotation pay.
Company vehicle provided.
11 Paid holidays.
Double time on holidays.
PTO (vacation/personal)
Full uniforms provided.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in operations of a Surface water treatment plant & sewer lagoon.
- Operate a backhoe.
- Performs utility locates (J.U.L.I.E.).
- Reads water meters and enters data into the computerized data collector.
- Utilizes hand tools in excavating and repairing water/sewer distribution system.
- Maintains and repairs water/sewer distribution system consisting of water/sewer mains, service lines, fire hydrants, valves, grinder pumps and water meters.
- Trouble shooting, replacing & repairing grinder pumps.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must have ability to operate heavy equipment such as backhoes.
- Must be able to work overtime, including weekends and holidays.
- Must be available for twenty-four (24) hours call out on rotation.
- Must be willing to work towards obtaining a State of IL Class A Water Operator’s License.
- Must be able to obtain a State of IL Class 4 Sewer License.
- Must have ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Must be able to operate equipment and drive during day and night hours in adverse weather conditions.
- Must be able to walk, stand and perform hard manual labor.
- Must have the ability to traverse rough terrain.
- Must be able to routinely lift objects weighing up to seventy (70) pounds, or occasionally up to one hundred (100) pounds unassisted.
- Must be able to perform climbing, pulling and other labor-intensive activities including moving, bending, squatting, lifting, carrying and stretching freely with little or no discomfort.
- Must be able to work with limited supervision.
